I just found a great quote on Wayne Dyer's facebook page and had to copy it somewhere!
Dr. Wayne W. Dyer
"I forgive myself, and then I move on."
You can sit there forever, lamenting about how bad you've been, feeling guilty until you die, and not one tiny slice of that guilt will do anything to change a single thing in the past.
I am a strong believer in the freeing power of forgiveness- whether you are forgiving yourself or someone else. I know that there are some people who don't understand how you could forgive someone for doing something really hurtful for you. I have tried my best in my life to forgive the people who have hurt me the most.
Why?
I don't see any good in carrying around that negative energy within my body/heart/soul. It is wasted energy and I do not want to be bitter or angry or sad anymore.
Forgiveness is not saying that what the person did was okay, or that it didn't hurt. It's saying you no longer need to be weighed down by those negative emotions- so you let them go! :)
It feel so much better!
